​Zheng (Phil) Xiang, PhD is Associate Professor and Department Head in the Feiertag Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Virginia Tech.  His research interests include travel information search, social media marketing, and business analytics for the tourism and hospitality industries. He is a recipient of Emerging Scholar of Distinction award by the International Academy for the Study of Tourism. He served as a board member for the International Federation for IT and Travel & Tourism (IFITT) from 2014-2018. He is currently editor-in-chief of the Journal of Information Technology & Tourism and serves as editorial board member of several international journals including Journal of Business Research, Journal of Travel Research, and Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research.

Mr. Strickland is the General Manager for Crestline Hotels & Resorts at The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center in Blacksburg, VA.  Throughout his 20+ year career, Mr. Strickland has managed several hotels across the Commonwealth of Virginia and previously held General Management and Operations Management positions with brands such as Hyatt, Ritz-Carlton, Hilton, Marriott and InterContinental Hotels Group.  He has also assisted in the opening of 8 hotels and resorts throughout the country, with several earning AAA 5 Diamond status within the first year of operation.  Mr. Strickland is a proud graduate of the VT HTM program and also earned a Certified Hotel Administrator designation in 2013.
